One day, the car broke down and wouldn’t start there were no lights on the dash, and we couldn’t ignite it. Michael quickly identified the problem, clearly explained that the steering module had failed and needed to be sent to Sydney for repair. Michael was excellent and very straightforward in explaining the issues with our Mercedes C250. He gave us an honest cost estimate and a realistic timeframe to fix of about a week and a half and he kept his word. Throughout the process, his communication and professionalism were outstanding. Highly recommend Michael for his honesty, reliability, and expertise!
Very poor and unacceptable experience with Skipper Automotive I have been a long time loyal customer of Skipper Automotive and have the business serviced four of my cars for over a 5 years period. Unfortunately, in November 2024, I took my BMW X5 to Skipper Automotive for my car's engine noise issue (It was diagnosed by Michael to be a timing belt’s issue and required replacement）. The job expanded into an engine replacement, for which I paid $6k + after the original engine was damaged due to his timing belt replacement. Over the next several months, the repair was repeatedly delayed with ongoing excuses about faulty second-hand engines and parts availability. By May 2025, after nearly six months without my car, Michael admitted he was unable to fix the car and he arranged for the vehicle to be sent to BMW, stating his insurance and himself would cover all remaining costs of fixing the car. BMW finished the repairs in July 2025 but has confirmed till today that no payment was ever made by Skipper Automotive or its insurer. As a result, my vehicle is still being held because of Skipper Automotive’s failure to pay BMW, despite multiple written promises from Michael that payment to BMW would occur on set dates — none of which were honoured. This experience has caused me serious inconvenience, financial loss, and months without a usable car for nearly a year. Customers should be extremely cautious before trusting this business with major car repairs work. To be fair, he had been pretty good in maintaining four of our family cars over the last five years. But being a loyal customer doesn't mean you get honest and reliable treatment. Current Status of Vehicle and Payment As of today, I have not seen my BMW X5 for almost a year. During this period, I have received several assurances regarding payment from Michael of Skipper Automotive to BMW for the outstanding repair bill. However, ongoing communication issues and delays in resolution have resulted in my vehicle remaining at BMW, with no clear timeline provided for when this matter will be addressed.
The most important criteria when choosing a skilled local mechanic is someone you can trust. Michael's a good bloke and very professional. I've been a customer for years and his service is top-notch.
